When Myra asked me to make two beanies for her I knew they would be bright colors because that’s Myra’s personality. She’s always wearing lime green or yellow or orange; she’s definitely hard to miss in a crowd. Secretly I was excited to make her beanies because I knew they would be fun and colorful but little did I know that crocheting beanies that bright would be tough on the eyes! She chose ‘Brenda’ as the style for her beanies.
Here they are for your viewing pleasure, I tried to tone down the brightness of the photos but it was pretty much impossible!

When my friend Fillip with an ‘F’ asked me to make a monster for him it was my pleasure to create a new zombie that was just to his specifications; black pants not blue! So I made Fillip his own blood thirsty zombie and as an extra touch I decided to stitch up an extra bloody stump just for the zombie Fillip.

I must say I love this next photo. The little guy looks so ominous with his huge shadow.

Kelsey did the honors of delivering Fillip the Zombie to his new owner the real life Fillip; both zombie and man are happy with their new friend.

Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke; Cyclops, Frankenstein, Mummy and a Zombie walk into a bar…
Well this is no Halloween joke, these my newest little creations. After I was inspired by the little monsters in Christen Haden’s book I started researching Amigurumi and decided that I could definitely make my own little creations. Since amigurumi dolls are worked in a round in single crochet, the basics were easy enough. I developed a pattern for bodies and heads and arms that worked for me and after that it was a matter of working out the details. I ended up with four lil’ monsters that I am very proud of! They made their debut in Von Frankenstein’s Art Show last week and received rave reviews. Here they are for your viewing pleasure.
Cyclops is one of a race of giants having a single eye in the middle of their forehead. He was my first creation and I have to say that I love how he came out. He is bigger than all the rest since he is a giant and of course his eye color is customizable!

Frankenstein the monster is the creation of Dr. Frankenstein who uses salvaged body parts to create a human monster. While my Frankenstein is a much sweeter version he’s still retains his trademark stitches from where his brain was sewn into his head.

The Mummy of Imhotep is resurrected by Dr. Miller who doesn’t heed the warnings of the curse that promises dire consequences to the person who resurrects the mummy! While my version of the Mummy is a much sweeter little guy he is complete will all of his burial linens which were crocheted later and added on. (I must admit, he is my favorite monster so far!)

Last but definitely not least is the zombie. Creating a zombie seemed a necessity since it was the monster most demanded by my friends. Zombies are reanimated corpses who are mindless, unfeeling monsters with a hunger for human flesh. My sweet little zombie still retains his hunger for human flesh but he has unfortunately lost an arm to necrosis and it looks as if the other is just hanging by a thread.

For some reasons all of the monsters I set out to create are of the human variety. A giant one eyed giant, a reanimated human monster, a mummy brought back to life and of course a zombie. I guess this makes them a perfect series, although I originally set out to create a much more varied monster world. (There are more monsters still in the works so hopefully you will see updates on these guys soon.) They are a happy little family who were a ton of fun to create.

Amigurumi tends to be smaller in scale so I have included some photos of each monster with a deck of cards for perspective.

Lindsey is the newest addition to my line of beanies. I would call it more of a specialty beanie since yarn availability and colors is going to be a bit limited.
Lindsey is similar to another beanie that is already very popular, Brenda. Unlike Brenda, Lindsey is an exaggerated length and made with a very fuzzy yarn. It’s extremely soft and huggable, just like it’s namesake!

Once I completed Liam, Aidan and Isabella’s beanies I wanted to make them custom stuffed animals. I was going to create bears for each of them but my latest obsession with amigurumi got a hold of me and I started in search of the perfect inspiration.
I found just what I was looking for in the book Creepy, Cute Crochet: Zombies, Ninjas, Robots and More! by Christen Haden. Being that Nich and Ginny are into monsters themselves I figured that these little guys would be perfect for their little guys and girl! I decided on monsters for the boys, medusa and cthulhu, and then I decided that a sweet little Amazon warrior would be perfect for Isabella.

My friends Nich and Ginny are getting closer and closer to welcoming triplets into the world! It’s such an exciting time for them and I wanted to make special gifts for their three little bundles of joy.
I wanted to make the babies custom beanies in the colors Nich and Ginny had chosen for their room; black, red and white. I decided on a variation of all three colors for each beanie and added the perfect buttons as embellishments for these little rock n’ roll beanies.
